Moutains/Plateaus- Russia is made up of 2 main Mountain ranges and there is also a specific landform within one of the ranges that is very important. The two main mountain ranges are the Ural and Caucasus. Also within the Caucasus is Mt. Elbrus. The Ural Mountains are important, because it creates the border betwen East and West Russia. It is also abundant in oil, iron ore, and natural gas crutial to Russia's economy. The caucasus Mountains are important, because It is the highest point of Russia. Specifically the highest point in Russia is Mt. Elbrus, and extinct valcanoe that reaches 18,510 ft. The main plateau in Russia is the central Siberian Plateau. The Central Siberian Plateau is the highest plateau in Russia.
Plains- The significant plains in Russia are the Northern European Plain and the West Siberian Plain. The Northern European Plain is noteworthy because it if filled with fertile land and is great for farming. This plain is also known as the Russian Plain. The West Siberain Plain is located West of Siberia and East of the Ural Mountains. It is one million square miles and is the largest stretch of flat land in Russia.
Water System- Russia is filled with rivers spanning across the land. The volga ricer is the longest river it conects to the Caspian Sea. There are 5 siberian rivers the Ob', Irtysh, Yenisey, Lena, and Amur. The Ob', Irtysh, Yenisey, Lena, flow north and the Amur flows east. Lake Biakal is the largest fresh water lake it holds 1/5 of the worlds fresh water.
Climate and vegetation
Climate- Most of Russia is located in higher latitudes. It has harsh and cold winters, with short and cool summers. Much of the country's interior climate has more variations in temperature. The far north is covered in Tundra, a vast, treeless plain. The most common climate region in Russia is the subarctic, some of the worlds coldest temperatures occur here. Most of the Euorpean plain is covered by a humid continental. There is also Steppe located in Russia.
Vegetation- The chernozem has rich fertile soil perfecto for growing vegetation. On the Chernozem the grow sunflowers, mint, and beans.This vegetation is crucial for the economy and the wild life.
Population and culture
The People-Russia is a multiethnic country full of varies in culture. The slavs have big impact on the culture and politics in Russia. The Caucasians are also a big ethnic group in Russia. The Turkic people generally tend to live in southwestern Russia.
Density and Distribution-75% of Russians live in Western Russia. This is because of rich soil, water-ways, and a milder climate than the rest of Russia. The capital city, Moscow, is a major industrial city in Russia. Only 25 % of Russia lives in Siberia, despite the fact that siberia is two-thirds of Russia.
Language and Religion- There are over 100 languages spoken in Russia. Russian is the official language of Russia. The soviet Union actively promoted Atheism, but now the restrictions on religion have relaxed. Religions in Russia include, Christianity, Islam, Judaism, and Buddhism.
Education and Healthcare- life expectancy is 66. Today there is a choice of many different types of school.
Family and Leisure- Most families live in large apartment blocks, because of housing shortages. concerts, ballet, and sports are common forms of entertainment.

Early History- Russia was first settled by the slavs when farmers, hunter, and fishers started to live there in the 600's. Later the varangians settled among the slavs.
Revolutions and change- When the mongols invaded many slavs fled. The mongolians became teh rulers of Russia. When peter the great took power he modernized Russia with the rest of the world, becuase Russia was falling behind the rest of the world.
Movement for change- The soviet union weakend the economyso badly the soviet union fell. Russia began moving to a command economy. Even today Russia is improving ts economy and is now becoming a super power.

Natural resources- Russia has many resources including, Iron ore, nickel, platinum, copper, tin, lead, diamonds, gold, and titanium.
Economic Activities- In russia the GDP has greatly improved. Service industry is 62%. Industrial is 34%. Agricultural is 5%. Tourism is 9%
Forestry- Almost half of Russia is covered in Forests.
Fishing- Almost all of the fish caught in Russia are exported to other countries helping the economy.
Tourism- Around 5 millin people work in tourism Transportation and Communications
Roads- Not even half of the people use roads for travel
Railroads- Railroad is a popular form of transportations
